Keynote: "Students with Disabilities SET (Strategies, Environmental Modifications, and Tools) to Succeed: With Your Help, Yes They Can!"
With the right supports, all children can learn. Meaningful participation at home and school can be facilitated by altering access, content, and materials. Matching needs with environmental tools for clients from  cradle to career is a skill and a challenge for which therapists are uniquely qualified.  Determining supports and strategies that are "least restrictive" and recognizing the role that therapists can play in implementing Response to Intervention (RtI) and facilitating Universal Design for Learning (UDL) practices as a member of the educational team is an ongoing process. This workshop will equip participants with strategies, skills, and technology resources to support learners with varying abilities. As a result, participants will be able to identify a variety of methods and resources to adapt common tools and curricular materials to meet the individual needs of children with disabilities in the home and school environment, academically and socially, as well as recognize the "ebb & flow" aspect of service delivery in response to the needs of children as they transition through the school system. Participants will additionally learn to apply a scaffolding process to provide access to print-based materials and identify useful technologies and strategies for supporting math and literacy instruction for students with disabilities.
